Sarah and Dale had one of the most fun weddings this year. As you watch the video you can see just how happy everyone was and hat reall helps a bride and groom enjoy their day.
A big thanks to Phil from Elite Entertainment. It's always nice to work with some of the people we recommend.
And we get to work with our friend Sarah Schulte again. You can see a sample of the wonderful photos she took on her blog. This weekend we are off to Stockbridge, MA to film Sarah's wedding to her lucky fiance' John.
Every Tuesday new music is released on iTunes and I faithfully listen to the new releases to find some fun new songs to edit to. Let's face it, it gets a little boring editing to the same wedding songs week after week. We encourage couples to find new and current songs that will reflect their wedding day and their personalities. Some of the best songs aren't necessarily hit songs. And I frequently have couple who ask my opinion or are stuck trying to pick the perfect song.
And so we have the new segment to my blog - the Tuesday Morning Music Club. Okay, I stole the title from the Sheryl Crow album Tuesday Night Music Club, so sue me. But I think this will be a great addition and will help couples truly make their wedding video unique and personal.
So every Tuesday I will create a list of songs that I think will work good for a wedding video. And there will be a label for it so you can just click on the label and see all the posts and all the suggestions at one time. I think this is a unique idea and have never seen another wedding videographer do anything like this. Happy searching.
Kiss a Girl - Keith Urban
Sweet Thing - Keith Urban
Only You Can Love Me This Way - Keith Urban
Cartoons and Forever Plans - Maria Taylor
Honorable Mention (because it's a great song and was released two months ago):
I am a cupcake lover but, recently they have been featured everywhere and their stock value has pretty such sky rocketed! There has been a flavor explosion...like these Bacon Maple Cupcakes from the Milwaukee Cupcake Queen who writes a blog called "No One Puts Cupcake in a Corner" (seriously love the name!!)
And while we are talking about bacon cupcakes....I have to mention that if your hunka, hunka burning love has a thing for Elvis ...you might want to think of serving your guests an Elvis Cupcake!
I was first turned onto the cupcake craze when someone told me about Sprinkles cupcakes- they brand themselves by being "the original cupcake bakery". Since then, there has been a serious cupcake explosion! Now, we have Cupcake Camps in most major cities that benefit non-profits (there is a Cupcake Camp being held in Los Angeles THIS weekend!). There are fancy couture cupcake wrappers for all occasions and the flavors are pretty much endless - the largest cupcake menu I found while writing this was from Yummy Cupcakes in Los Angeles. Currently, they have 212 cupcake flavors!! Seriously. I dunno....I kind of like chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting...the kind I always made as a kid...what about you? Are you a cupcake connoisseur?

There is a problem in the wedding industry that has been around for some time - professional recommendations. Unfortunately there are some wedding vendors that "team up" and offer to recommend each other simply to help each other get business. In my opinion it is very unprofessional to recommend another vendor unless you are doing so for the benefit of the couple, and not yourself.
This problem is especially widespread in the reception halls. Many halls will hand couples a "preferred vendor list" or book. What they don't disclose to the couple is that each vendor paid to be on the list or in the book. In many cases they have no first-hand knowledge of the vendor's work. Please do not book from the preferred vendor list until you look at all your options. You may not end up with the best vendor for your wedding and will continue to promote this unethical business practice.
At KSV we are proud to say that we only recommend the best professionals in the industry. All the professionals on our links page are people that we stand behind 100%. We will not recommend anyone until we have worked with them at least once, so we know they are professional when they do their job. If they are a photographer I personally will check out their website and view images so I can say with confidence that they do good work.
The funny thing is I have been approached by many wedding vendors and asked to network with them but most of them I don't bother calling back because I don't enjoy their work. When we make a recommendation it has to mean something. So please check out our links page on the website before you book your wedding professionals.
So on that note I will leave you with a slide show from one of my favorite photographers, Jordan Brian. This was a couple that he booked on my recommendation. Jessie and Mike were so great and so much fun to shoot.

From Philadelphia - Giving smokers a genetic test to assess lung cancer risk appears to motivate them to quit, according to a report presented at conference on Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research. Researchers gave over 50 smokers a gene based test to assess their risk of developing lung cancer, finding that nearly one third of participants quit smoking six months following the test.
From Boston - Research published in the Archives of Ophthalmology finds that vitamins C and E have no protective effect against cataracts. Researchers studied over 11,000 healthy men for 8 years, finding that long term supplementation with vitamins C and E had no preventive effect against cataract formation.
And finally, from Minnesota - Many heart attack patients wait too long to go to the hospital, according to a report published in the Archives of Internal Medicine. Studying over 100,000 heart attacks, researchers found a median delay of 2.6 hours from symptom onset to hospital arrival. Professional recommendations insist one calls 911 if heart attack symptoms do not improve after 5 minutes.
One of my favorite designers, Elie Saab presented a wonderful collection of dreamy dresses perfect for a special occasion, especially a wedding. It was very hard to pick just a few so here's a double dose of my favorites.

Elegant Encore Bridal is a new type of 'hybrid' bridal shop offering "New" and "Nearly New" Green Friendly Gowns for the Eco-conscious consumer. The majority of our 'Nearly New' gowns have never been worn due to cancelled events, a bride or prom customer finding another gown they like better, or sample gowns from other bridal stores. Title: DJ Isfan & I Do A Wedding Part 3 - Encore & Wrap-Up
Wow, what a fun night we had together! In part 3, we do the 'Practice & N-Joy" with the crowd, play an Encore, do overtime, talk to our bride & groom Kim & Scott, and wrap it all up. Enjoy!
Last night, I happened to be walking by the TV and a commercial just started. After a quick walk by, it caught my eye. I saw a high heel shoe on the floor, a mans cummerbund and miscellaneous items panning to a bride and groom. I stopped and looked back but the commercial was over - thank goodness for DVR's! I asked my husband, "What was that about?" and he replied he wasn't paying attention. He grabbed the remote and we watched again! This time, I notice sitting on the bed, still in their wedding clothes, are the bride and groom reading cards and laughing about a check made out to Mr. and Mrs. So-and-So and the groom says something about HIS parents getting a check but then they grab their iPhone and deposit the check into their account! This is a new feature that Chase is offering called Quick Deposit. I was floored! How cool is THAT?! I love it. I grabbed my iPhone, downloaded the app and signed into my account. I had to try this...what a great little tool. I have had a couple of checks in my purse waiting to go to the bank...which I haven't gotten around to doing. Took the pictures, entered the amount and tada! Done. Awesome!
There are a few little catches - you can only deposit up to $1000 a day and you have a $3000 limit per month. Also, you need to photograph the front and back of the checks on a non-reflective surface. You must have a steady hand! It was pretty simple, actually. I will get better at it the more I do it! I just thought that was the most fun thing...and I am so excited to share this!! I HATE going to the bank and now...I don't have to!! Click here to read more about this on the Chase website
