"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" is a Christmas song introduced by Judy Garland in the 1944 MGM musical Meet Me in St. Louis. Frank Sinatra later recorded a version with modified lyrics, which has become more common than the original. The song was credited to Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane, although during a December 21, 2006 NPR interview, Martin said that Blane had encouraged him to write the song but had not had anything more to do with writing it. In 2007, ASCAP ranked "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" the third most performed Christmas song written by ASCAP members of the past five years.

Tuesday Morning Music Club - 3/31/09

Every Tuesday new music is released on iTunes and I faithfully listen to the new releases to find some fun new songs to edit to. Let's face it, it gets a little boring editing to the same wedding songs week after week. We encourage couples to find new and current songs that will reflect their wedding day and their personalities. Some of the best songs aren't necessarily hit songs. And I frequently have couple who ask my opinion or are stuck trying to pick the perfect song.

And so we have the new segment to my blog - the Tuesday Morning Music Club. Okay, I stole the title from the Sheryl Crow album Tuesday Night Music Club, so sue me. But I think this will be a great addition and will help couples truly make their wedding video unique and personal.

So every Tuesday I will create a list of songs that I think will work good for a wedding video. And there will be a label for it so you can just click on the label and see all the posts and all the suggestions at one time. I think this is a unique idea and have never seen another wedding videographer do anything like this. Happy searching.

The Forever Ring...

Now that I know what I want this time around I've been daydreaming of colored gems in antique settings, such beauties. A while ago I found such lovelies on the Fay Cullen website. It's like a candy store with all the different styles and colors!  I've put a board together featuring some of their rings but it was so hard to just choose 12! What about you? What the...?

Has Microsoft lost their minds? They have recently released a beta version of an application they have been working on called Songsmith. The idea is that you sing into a microphone and the application puts it to music. First of all, this has got to be the most stupid thing I have ever heard of. You sing into a computer and some kind of Casio Keyboard accompaniment fills in the rest? Are they serious? Is this really how they think a person can write a song?

I have played guitar for 28 years and I'm kind of insulted that they think a person can sing badly and just have a band inserted by a computer. At first I thought this was some kind of April's Fools joke, but it turns out to be real and the application can actually be downloaded from their site. Here is their commercial for it if you want a good laugh.

The only good that can come from this application is some good laughs as some people have tried to play some hit songs into the software to see what it comes up with. You can check those out here:

Side Note: Anybody else notice that they are using the application on an Apple 15" MacBook Pro? LOL
