Wedding Video at The Ram's Head Inn

Stephanie and Kyle were a lot of fun. Everyone was laid back and really enjoyed the day. the weather was awesome as well. it's the kind of weather that brides who pick April for their wedding are expecting. It was sunny but with a slight chill in the air, which works in favor of the brides who have to wear a big heavy dress all day.

The Ram's Head Inn is famous for their cuisine and their wedding reception department did not disappoint. Everyone was so very helpful and supportive of all the vendors.

The most enjoyable part of the night was working with Sammy and Ray from Diamond DJ's again. we worked with them last fall and they are really great at what they do. They have a great energy that spills out onto the dance floor. Their attitude is contagious, so if you ain't having a good time when these guys are in the room you might want to check your pulse.

What's on Your Vendor's Blog Today?

With the yellow pages now gone the way of the dodo bird, the internet is the most important tool a wedding professional has. But making a website can be difficult, and a chore to update on a regular basis. I know first hand as I designed and built my website myself. However with the advent of the blog (shortened from it's original name, web log) anybody with a computer can update a website and keep people informed.

So the question I want brides and grooms to ask themselves is this - why don't certain wedding vendors ever update their blog?

This is an important question for a couple to ask when considering hiring their wedding professionals. And it doesn't matter what kind of vendor it is. Every vendor should have a blog that is updated on a regular basis to show off their new work. At KSV we are always posting new work because we are proud of the videos we make and continuously make efforts to learn new techniques to improve them. So why don't some videographers, photographers, florists, or planners want to show off their latest work? I think the answer is simple.

They don't have any.

If you ask them I'm sure they will make up some kind of excuse. "I'm too busy to write a blog post". Yeah, okay. I believe that one. Writing a couple sentences doesn't take whole heck of a lot of time. And I don't know of any professionals that aren't proud of their latest work and would stay up late at night to show off their work.

So either they haven't done any good work lately, or they simply haven't done any work at all lately - in which case you have to ask yourself, "How good are these vendors if nobody is booking them?"

So when considering your wedding professionals use their blog as a gauge to see just how much work they really have and to see their latest work instead of something they were proud of from three years ago.

In Lieu Of...

So, you've seen those three words before - right? In lieu of a gift.... In lieu of flowers... In lieu of is pretty simple to define: In place of or instead of.


Well, on the horizon is a new way of giving - INLU (get it? in lieu?). Yes, it's spelled wrong - yes they know it. What is it? A simple way of getting everyone to go in on a group gift or if you are the wedding couple and do not want gifts but, instead would rather give to a charity - this is one way to do it.


INLU allows the person organizing the party (bachelorette, bridal shower, etc) a place to create an evite invitation and collect funds for one spectacular gift. Maybe, the couple has been living together and really couldn't use a new toaster, towel set or food processor. Maybe, what they really want is a new living room set. Seems pretty easy...that is if the people you are inviting are hip to internet gifting! I happen to like the idea - it's a pretty easy way to take care of gift giving - and I want to give the couple what they really want!

We did something similar for my hubby's 40th surprise birthday party! I had a luau surprise party for him and in lieu of a gift, I asked his friends and our family to chip in for a big surprise gift - a cruise to Hawaii! They all did it and my husband was SHOCKED! It was a lot of fun and easy for the guests...the only thing they had to do was show up for the surprise and have a good time.

I am not opposed to helping a couple with their honeymoon registry either. Times have changed! No longer does the bride have a trousseau when she gets married!

So how easy is it to set up? Pretty easy...


  • Create an Inlu.

  • Describe the GIFT.

  • Spread the word.

  • Purchase and give!
