Sentimental Gestures

por | | 0 comments

It's no secret I am a huge fan of brooches - especially when they are incorporated into the bridal bouquet! While checking up on one of my favorite photographers I found these pictures:

Bridal Bouquet Keepsake
1920S Wedding Photos

Photogapher, Murakami, caught the beauty of this sentimental gesture on Mandi and Brandon's wedding day. You can read more about the brooch and see the bride's reaction when she was given the brooch here. In this bouquet shot - the brooch has photos of the brides mom on her wedding day and the mom's mom (the brides grandmother) on her wedding day. How special is that??! What an amazing keepsake too! I just wanted to share this because I thought it was so sentimental and special! Do you have plans of incorporating anything in your own wedding using pictures of your mom's or grandmother's? Share your ideas with comments!!

Title: The Pretenders-Private Life (Live)

Private Life by the Pretenders; Taken from the Sept 4th 1981 show at the Santa Monica Civic theater. The 9th Item on the setlist.

Title: Bonjour Tristesse

Using materials that reflect the urban landscape, ordinary detritus like rusty sheet metal or yesterdays newspaper, Unais work resurrects and reinvents the discarded relics of the modern masses. His art is at once rough and delicate, exposing sentimental and vulnerable humanity through violent gestures, provocative irony and messy compositions that defy traditional aesthetic boundaries. Meta-narratives, pop and subculture artifacts, religious iconography and a wide breadth of literary references are all present in his multifaceted installations, as well as allusions to art historical antecedents ranging from Basquiats urban poetry to Sir Howard Hodgkins abstract paintings as sculptural objects to Jonathan Meeses theatrical symbolism.

Van Halen

por | | 0 comments

On a non-wedding related subject - Jeanie and I went with her friend and nephew to see Van Halen at the Wachovia Center last night. What an incredible show. We talked about how great it was all the way home. I was the only Van Halen veteran of the 3 of us - I had seen them on the Diver Down and 1984 tours, as well as seeing David Lee Roth on the tours for Skyscraper, A Little Ain't Enough and the Sam and Dave tour that he did with Sammy Hagar a few years back.

They sounded fantastic except for too much reverb, but that could have been because we were way up in the second level. Eddie's playing is as tasteful and flashy as ever. Alex didn't miss a beat all night. And DLR was sounding better than ever. Many singers really go all out in the studio only to find they can't reproduce their range live, especially when they get older - Robert Plant and Elton John come to mind. But David Lee was hitting all the high notes and screeches that made him one of the best vocalists in the '80's.

One of the biggest surprises was also one of my biggest letdowns - Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddie's son. He was very competent on the bass and has a great singing voice. Everything sounded almost like the original band and everyone was very pleased with his performance, as was I. My gripes are small, and only relevent because I saw Van Halen with their original bassist, Michael Anthony. The vocals were just a little off from the original line-up, but still extremely good. I wish Wolfgang would embrace his new rock start status a little more. Most bass players would kill their own mother for the chance to play with the legendary Van Halen. And while the rest of the band was very animated and seemed genuinely happy to be back together, Wolfgang just kind of paced around like it was band rehearsal. He didn't jump, run, spin around, or really acknowledge the screaming 20,000 people in front of him. I also miss the bass solo. Most bands don't give the bass player a solo but Michal Anthony used to come out with his Jack Daniels Bass and throw it to the ground and make all kinds of horrible sounds. It wasn't musical but it was entertaining to say the least.

Overall I couldn't have been more happy with the show and only wish I had splurged for the better seats. We're considering going to see them at the Meadowlands if there are tickets still available.  Highlights of the night - Hearing all but one song from the first album (On Fire was the only song not played). Lowlights of the night - I'll Wait from the 1984 album is a song I could do without.

Some of the information you will need to provide is provided only in the video itself. It's that simple - watch a video, send an email, answer a question to prove you watched the video.

Why are we doing this? Attention. KSV and Seamless Events are two of the most respected companies in our area. We're not asking anybody to purchase anything to enter the contest, but we're confident that when people see our work they will want to consider our services for their own wedding.

The winning couple must have their wedding between January 1 and December 1 of 2010. Current clients of KSV and Seamless who have already booked their weddings between these dates are eligible.

Title: iPhone & iPad Auction Sniper app for eBay using iOS4.2: adding events

Here is an often overlooked feature of the new iOS4 operating system, this will work on 2nd generation iPod Touches all the way up to the new iPhone 4 and now on the iPad too.

With the introduction of iOS4, apps now can send Calendar events to your devices built in iCal Calendar. This is a demonstrate of a new app, called SurfyBay for eBay to demo this new function. (i'll include a link to the App within the Appstore below.) This is basically used for eBay sniping, snipper, snip type of listing alerting.

Lets say you wanted to be alerted BEFORE the end of an important eBay listing the easy way? With one touch, SurfyBay automatically sets an "Event" in your device's built in Calendar App of the eBay listing you are currently looking at, an event which includes Alerts with timing of your choosing to remind you of the coming end of that eBay listing. Never miss a listing that you want to bid on, and more importantly never reveal what price you are willing to pay on a listing until the last few seconds of that listing.

If you have iCal Syncing set up, your new iCal events will also sync to your MobileMe and desktop iCal for seamless alerts automatically.

A link back to the listing is saved with your alerts, so when an alert appears, simply touch on "view" and you'll see a link to the listing for immediate action.

Instructions on using SurfyBay:

1. Before setting eBay listing alerts, touch on the "Setup Prefs" pane and set the number of alerts, and the time increments that you want an alarm to go off before the end of any given listing.

2. Your preferences are saved between each use of SurfyBay, so setting preferences need only be done one time if you wish, but can be changed for each listing too.

3. Navigate to any eBay listing that has an "end time" which you wish to be alerted to, and touch on "Add to iCal". This adds an Event to your device's iCal with your saved preferences of alerts, and you are finished.

(if you want a Mac Version for your Desktop or laptop of this App, go to the website below for instructions)
