August 19, 1983 - My very first concert. I was 14 years old and my sister's boyfriend, Tony, agreed to take me so he could score some browny points with my parents. He got us 2nd row seat for Iron Maiden at The Spectrum. It was the World Piece Tour, so named because of their recently released album, Piece of Mind. I remember it like it was yesterday. We moved up to the front so that we were actually leaning in the stage. The band opened with the song Where Eagles Dare and the bass player, Steve Harris, came close to stepping on my hands. The first opening act was a real good band from Canada called Coney Hatch, and the other band was Fastway, and they sucked.
June 17, 2008 - My son's 5th concert. He is 8 years old and loves rock music thanks to video games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. No front row for me anymore. Back then they were $13, today they are $125. OUCH! But we did get real good seats right behind the sound board. We had a clear view of the stage and the sound at a concert always sounds best to the guy running the mixing board. We both got Eddie t-shirts. The sound was very loud so we both put earplugs in. They played for over and hour and a half and played many of their greatest songs.
